Bedfordshire Schools Rugby Competitions Year 5 – Year 13

2011-2012

  COMPETITION RULES

1 The Competition shall be open to all Schools affiliated to Bedfordshire Schools and Youth RFU, and shall be played in accordance with the Laws of Rugby Football as laid down by the RFU.

2 The Competition shall be administered by the Bedfordshire representative of the RFU, David Marshall.

3 (a) Only bona fide players of participating schools shall be eligible to play in this Competition and no player shall play for more than one school in one season.

(b) School year is taken as at the first day of September of the current school year. Participants in the team will wherever possible be in that school year. Where a school cannot raise a team in a year group players can play out of age, provided it is done under the provisions of age grade rugby laid down by the RFU. Players will be expected to play up, not down.

(c) No game in this competition shall be played under floodlights without the express agreement of the two participating schools.

(d) Where a team loses two or more players because of a representative match on the allotted day, the Cup match involving that school is to be played on the following week.

4 (a) The rounds of the Cup Competition shall be played midweek, dates being decided by the relevant schools.

(b) Any Cup game postponed due to adverse weather conditions shall be played the following week

5 Arrangements for games shall be the responsibility of the home team, including the obtaining of referee’s services through a Referees Society (if possible).

6 The home side shall be responsible for notifying the David Marshall (DaveMarshall@RFU.com) of the result of any game within 3 days of that game.

7 Except in the Final of the Competition, in the event of a draw after 'no side' the winners shall be (in order of priority)

(i) the team scoring the greater number of tries or

(ii) the team scoring the greater number of conversions or

(iii) the team scoring the greater number of drop goals or

(iv) the away team

In the event of a draw in the Final, that cannot be decided under (i), (ii), or (iii) above, the match shall be replayed

8 The rules of this Competition shall be adapted or amended only by a meeting of the Bedfordshire Schools and Youth RFU Management Committee

9 In the event of a dispute arising between opposing schools over the postponement of a scheduled RFU representative, or his nominee, whose decision shall be final.

 

Note:

Year 5 will be 9 a-side, Year 6,7,8 will be 12 a-side and Year 9 and thereafter will be 15 a-side
