Volunteers in Rugby Football
In every
Community Rugby Club there are many enthusiastic and dedicated
Volunteers who work together to ensure that players of both sexes from
all age groups, benefit from the enjoyment of playing the game of Rugby
Football.
These volunteers pass on to their squads the core values of our game -
Discipline - Sportsmanship - Teamwork - Respect and above all ENJOYMENT.
There is no requirement for Rugby Club Volunteer to have a playing
background in Rugby, but they should have enthusiasm and an ability to
work together with his Club colleagues.
The list of jobs a willing Volunteer could undertake is endless but, examples
are : Administration - ie Fixture
Secretary - Help with ground maintenance - Help with Clubhouse &
Facilities - Fund raising - and perhaps for those ex players who have
'hung up their boots' but would like some more physical involvement -
Coaching - Club Referee - Society Referee - Club Touch Judge.
I can assure you that Help is alway's appreciated!
In all the
above tasks the RFU - East Midlands Rugby Union - or - your own Club
Volunteer Co-ordinator will always be available to assist, guide you or
point you in the right direction. ( Your Clubs Volunteer Co-Odrdinator
is listed below.)
So, what can a volunteer expect in return for his time & effort?
a) Learning & Developing New Skills.
b) The Enjoyment of meeting new friends and a wider social environment.
c) A greater confidence and self esteem.
d) An expansion of your C.V. including your Volunteer experience.
e) You will be seen to make a positive difference in the
Community, to the good of all, - by the development of the Rugby Union
Core Code of: TEAMWORK - RESPECT - DISCIPLINE - SPORTSMANSHIP &
ENJOYMENT.
For
Younger persons aged between 16 & 25 wishing to be part of our game
by becoming a Volunteer, and again improving their C.V. by showing the
incentive of Volunteering, there are many opportunities within every
Rugby Club - just talk to your Club Volunteer Co-ordinator or visit the vRugby website, this site is dedicated to youth Volunteers in Rugby Football.
