Discipline
If clubs have a player sent off it is the responsibility of the Club
to report the dismissal to the EMRFU Disciplinary Secretary within seventy-two hours.Failure
to report the sending off within this time will result in the
administration fee rising from £30.00 + VAT to £50.00 + VAT.
If the Committee deem that the offence is either of ‘a not very serious
nature and/or it is the players first offence’ the Committee may decide
that the player need not to appear at the hearing and that a decision
can be arrived at in his absence. The offer to hear the case in the
player’s absence does not preclude the player requesting to attend the
meeting in the usual way if he so wishes.
When a player appears at a disciplinary hearing a senior Club official should always accompany him.
A player who appears at a hearing has the right to request the referee’s
attendance providing that any expenses incurred by the referee are met
by the player or his Club.
If the players does not request the referee to be present at the
hearing he will be deemed to have accepted the referee’s report as an
accurate account of the incident(s) and may therefore only plead
mitigating circumstances for his actions.
A player or Club which fails to appear at a hearing without good cause
or reason will be expected to pay the administration fee for the
cancelled hearing and for the consequent meeting which has to be
arranged to hear the case.
