Shaping the Game
The RFU has been re-examining the youth player pathway since
commissioned research into child behaviour and development has suggested
that the existing pathway needs remodelling in order to be more
progressive, child centred, increase involvement and aid retention .
Following discussions at coaching conferences 3 constituent bodies (CBs)
lobbied to pilot some changes in their areas. Since the 2010-11 season
Hampshire, Warwickshire and Durham RFUs have been piloting changes,
firstly at U7,U8 and U9s with impressive interim results.
